WinZip Companion for Outlook 1.0

Winzip came out with a great new utility that integrates directly into Outlook XP or Outlook 2003. It is called WinZip Companion for Outlook 1.0 and comes with a 45-day download.

WinZip Companion for Outlook saves you the trouble of creating a compressed file then attaching it to an email. Instead you just attach the files directly to an email message and when it comes time to send, the Companion will compress the selected attachments into a single smaller file for dispatch.

It works quite seamlessly, in fact after installation we initially wondered if the product was present at all (in a new email look under the Tools menu for the configuration options.

You can compress attachments automatically, never or on request. There's also an option to encrypt the ZIP file and a minimum size of attachment to bother compressing. The default list of attachment extensions is mostly a list of compression formats, with the notable exception of RAR.

You might want to consider adding to this list other compressed formats like GIF and JPG images or WMA and MP3 music which rarely benefit from additional compression.

Naturally the receiver must be able to handle ZIP files to read the contents but that's rarely a problem these days. However if you choose one of the AES encryption options then the receiver will need a specially compatible file viewer like Winzip 9.0.

Search for Paris Hilton's phone hacked leads to the beautiful Divini Rae naked in bed.

Today I was looking for some information about Paris Hilton’s phone which was hacked at the end of last week.  Well the debate is still out whether it was a hack or she was scammed out of her password.

My guess was that she was not so smart about it and got scammed out of it, either way, the ‘hacker’ got her phone book, notebook and photos from her camera phone.  Here is one but since the rest are posted on a porn site that pretends to be free (and is actually not), I won’t be listing them here.

Working late on all the computers

Been working late these past few weeks and between that and school, I have not had any time to blog. I have downloaded some software that will make blogging a little easier. The software is BlogJet, it will hopefully make life in the blogging world easier.

Google Maps - Best Looking Maps around

Just stumbled across yet another very cool thing on Google's website, Maps! Did a map of where my office is located and it is far more accurate and looks tons cleaner than any of the other services. Google Maps - My Work
